Project Summary
Virtuaal Power group is developing 14.50 MW (3×4.85 MW) Pareng Hydro-Electric Project under the SPV-Virtuaal Pareng Hydro Private Limited.
- Pareng SHPP is a 14.5 MW Hydro Power Project on Pareng River, a tributary of Panyor River in Papum Pare District of Arunachal Pradesh. Project has been planned as Run of River plant. The project is estimated to have an annual gross generation of 77.71 MU.
- Pareng Project has been chosen since it is a run of the river scheme with no submergence issues and affects no other projects or catchments. The project is easily accessible on an existing roadhead, has the support of the local populace, and has no major environmental issues. In addition it has remarkably favourable geological conditions for the region and is a simple project with no unusual features.
- The project weir site is located at about 36 kms from the Sagalee town which is about 90kms from the state capital Itanagar. The project can be accessed from Guwahati Tezpur National Highway and further by State highway and all weather roads. The nearest major airport is at Guwahati and nearest railhead is at Naharlagun.
- The project envisages the construction of a 28m long trench weir, feeder channel, underground desilting chamber, 3.5m dia and 3300m long headrace tunnel of modified horseshoe shape, a surge shaft of 6m dia, pressure shaft of 2.5m dia, surface powerhouse and 54m long tailrace arrangement.The transmission offtake infrastructure is available close to the project area.
- The project will enhance the quality of life of people living in and around the project by the way of development of roads, communications, availability of uninterrupted power. This will lead to development of small/medium industries, ancillaries employment generation, development of tourism.
